      Activités sportives

      Randonnées pédestres

      L‘Islande offre aux amateurs de randonnées de vastes possibilités. La plupart des sentiers les plus populaires sont facilement accessibles et des cartes de randonnée de diverses régions du pays ont été publiées. Dans les parcs nationaux et les aires protégées, les sentiers de randonnée sont balisés, alors que les itinéraires plus aventureux dans l’intérieur de l’île nécessitent expérience et préparation. La marche à pied est un des loisirs favoris des Islandais comme des touristes, les randonneurs doivent néanmoins veiller à respecter la végétation et l’environnement naturel extrêmement fragiles, caractéristiques de l’Islande. Des informations sur les sentiers de randonnée sont disponibles dans les centres d’information touristique et auprès des gardes des parcs nationaux. De nombreuses agences de voyages organisent aussi des randonnées pédestres été comme hiver.

      Équitation

      De nombreuses fermes et divers organisateurs de voyages dans toute l’Islande organisent des randonnées à cheval d’une durée variant d’une heure à 10 jours. Attention !       Ski

      La pratique du ski d’hiver est possible dans de nombreuses régions du pays (ski alpin et ski nordique).

      Cyclisme

      Il est possible de louer des bicyclettes en plusieurs endroits d’Islande. Pour tous renseignements sur les randonnées à bicyclette veuillez contacter les agences de voyages ou les centres d’information touristique.

      Pêche et chasse

      L’Islande est réputée pour la pêche au saumon et à la truite. La grande saison pour la pêche au saumon dure du 20 juin à la mi-septembre. Pour la pêche à la truite, les dates varient d’une rivière ou d’un lac à l’autre, mais la saison normale s’étend des mois d’avril ou mai jusqu’à fin septembre début octobre. En hiver, on peut pratiquer la pêche au trou, qui connaît un grand succès. Il faut réserver son permis de pêche longtemps à l’avance pour la pêche au saumon, mais ce n’est pas nécessaire pour la pêche à la truite, les permis étant délivrés rapidement, voire le jour même.

      Pêche en haute mer

      La pêche en haute mer est en voie de devenir un sport populaire en Islande. La saison débute fin mai et dure jusqu’à fin août, avec plusieurs concours dans diverses localités. Pour tous renseignements, contactez les centres d’information touristique.

      Golf

      Tous les grands terrains de golf d’Islande sont ouverts aux visiteurs étrangers. Les droits d’accès sont modérés. Golf de minuit en Islande – L’Arctic Open au club de golf d’Akureyri, dans le nord, on peut jouer au golf au soleil de minuit. A la fin du mois de juin se déroule un tournoi open international de 36 trous. La balle de départ (tee-off) est jouée juste avant minuit et le tournoi se poursuit jusqu’au petit matin.       Natation et Remise en forme

      La natation est une activité très populaire toute l’année en Islande. La plupart des villes et villages ont des piscines, qui sont souvent en plein air et alimentées par les eaux des sources chaudes. La température moyenne de l’eau des bassins est d’environ 29°C. De nombreuses piscines comportent aussi saunas, jacuzzi, solariums et «marmites d’eau chaude» dont la température varie de 36 °C à 44°C
